& We're Taking Over!

Here's a basic, simple, raunchy, hardcore rap number my friends & I were throwing together in the Summer of '89, for a rap show that never came together. We'd have been featured with a number of other rap acts, live on stage.

I'm featured on bass & beatbox/drum programming.

Diedrick & Chris were featured, frontin' in'yo'face. Diedrick [<Left] was especially mean looking, & I don't think he was foolin' around, y'know'ai'mean? We were the baddest thing on the block!

There was a badder, more unhinged and ominous bassline that somehow never made it to final mix, but this is the version that exists.

PLS Listen to this rap/jam just for fun, because that's how we recorded it. It's 4-trakkin' all the way, on the Tascam 244, w/Roland TR-606, red Ibanez Roadstar active bass, and sheer audacity!

NOT DAVEMANIA! A FIRST!

I just had to go & BUST OUT THE RAPS ON'YA, DIDN'T I? Laugh if you want! Tell me I suck, if you want, or that I play like a twelve year old. It don't matter. I'm cappin' on y'all with this one!!!!!! You know'ai'mean? If you think I'm full'a shit, then yo' twice as full'a shit as me! See?

I was featured only on bass & beatbox. Y'all are right, that beat was HYPED!

My friends, Diedrick [left] & Chris [right] are the authentic rappers,... authentic black gangsta rappers.

I, on the other hand, could probably give that lameass Eminem a run for his money, on straight, white-dope rappin. I'll maybe find another clip of myself steppin' up to the microphone doin' my own rap joint, someday, to prove this point.

THANX!!! Wink

Diedrick, pronounced Di' Edrick. Wink He's not only ruling through guile, but ruling through fear! Don't fuck with Di' Edrick, man, he's bad. [Dee-Edrick, for those who are hooked on phonix].

Thanx again!

Dave,
That is so late 80's rap. Sweet. Nice job on the bass and beats. I thought the rapping could have used a little more edge.

Cool stuff.

Now y'all know I'm the last person on the planet that could deliver an informed critique on this tune - but I gotta hand it to ya - I wouldn't know where to start if I wanted to put something like this together. The recording sounded pretty darned nice to me. And I certainly appreciate anyone's foray into any style of music. So maybe I can get down wid-it just a little Laughing
Ya know what I'm sayin? Cool

[MC] All you Recording Project homies are qualified to judge, so don't fool yourselves.

[TCB] I'm the caucasion for the occasion, eh? Maybe. I think of it more as:
groove-meister, driving force & produca'!
I think I added 'color' to the group! Heh.

Thanx again!!

2-5 needs to comment on this.

As someone who was really into this stuff in the late 80s early 90s --- very beastyish- Run DMC sound ........ needs more drums.

Cool though.

Thanx guys!

Yeah, I debut'd this one for 2-5 on live chat, and he gave me kudos. That was much appreciated coming from a "real" rap-guy!

Thanx again.

/DA Wink
