I have a Warmoth fretless J bass. I originally had it set up with Rotosound standard guage roundwounds. I recently changed over to flatwounds on it. The only set available was Steve Harris signature flatounds. I dont remember the thicknesses of these string but they feel very heavy. After putting them on my bass, I noticed an intonation problem at the twelfth fret marking on the A string. It was a little sharp. I had it set up with those strings on it, but the problem persists. The A string saddle is all the way to the bridge, and its still off. Is the thickness of the strings causing this problem? Shocked

could be ...... also flatwounds might intonate a little differently than roundwounds.

Hard to say for sure though, without having the bass and some other strings to try.
Do you still have the olds ones just to check with?

Or light guage flats. BTW, good to see you Lt. Bob. I've been off the forum for quite a while, but I'm back.
