last night I had a songwriter over who needed some verb or delay in here headphones... after trying every dam setting on a Lexicon MX200 I finally said "how's this" and grabbed my Boss DD3 delay pedal

worked like a charm

as it was only in her headphones.... which I didn't have patched into the control room.... as long as it was good enough for her ears

perfect

couldn't find a setting she liked.... One of my complaints about the MX200 and similar units is too many damn choices

I like simple... plus in my advancing years that little sized font in the isplay makes me squint too much LOL

that's why I have a mixing console with bazillion knobs , switches and sliders... each one controls one thing and one thing only

Glad I stumbled upon this thread.
I'm still trying to record an album of this acoustic guitar duo I'm in (which is taking forever). The other guy is a helluva player but when he records flat, without a nice tail of verb, he adds more notes to his licks. I'll take the suggestions above and just put a reverb unit ahead of his headphones. Great idea Stainless.

It is perhaps much simpler with a duo- in my case there's many tracks done before the final tracks : vocals lead and then any harmonies/back-ups, then the solo's so they know exactly where the vocals are and don't step on them (or at least play something that fits the vocals rather than the other way around)

I'll double it the track and send the doubled track to an output other than may main out (which i hear in the control room, and is the main send to headphones) then the second track output I'll patch (physically) to the outboard effect and then into the insert for theat persons headphone out (or in may case the "B" input on the headphone mix) they can hear it, nor can I or the recording

this way I have control over the level of verb/delay (and aI may try this for guitar players using stomp boxes)

using outboard gear in the signal chain may result in some latency, which you can always line up, but this avoids that!

I may sell the Lexicon and just get a few more stomp boxes!
