So I have always wanted to build one of these ever since I saw them come up for sale and started reading the reviews on the mandolin cafe.

So for Christmas my request was one of http://www.sagamusic.com/catalog/details.asp?ProductID=AM-10

I have been doing a lot of research as of late and now that it's here I am doing a lot of sanding but it's worth it!

Looking great, man! I'm building my first mando -- a Loar F5 per Roger Siminoff's plans. Good Lord what a lot of work! My mando-building friend James told me to just saw that scroll the hell off and get on with my life... I told him I couldn't do that, but I'm now starting to warm up to the idea...

He does some pretty nice A-style stuff. Here's his site:

Keep up the good work!

James is cool I have watched the video he did about sunburst finish making. I am also going by the Siminoff book as I build this thing.

Today I am going to try and smooth out some runout in the top.

Well done! Sounds damn good, too. Is an F5 next?

It does sound good! That is just using a really crappy laptop mic.

I can't afford another kit for a while but I would like to make a fiddle next and then maybe an F4 as I like the more mellow sounding mandolins. Got pictures of yours?
