I though it might be nice to start a list of tunes, maybe two or three apiece, that others attending Ducfest might consider getting familiar with beforehand. It's probably is just my OCD-ness showing, but there have been so many tunes by RP members that I've though would be fun to jam on, this gathering seems like the perfect excuse to work some of those out.

For the sake of feasibility, it seems they should be fairly simple tunes, and as luck would have it, most of ours are way simple. One I would put up for consideration, especially since erichenryus collab'd on it, is Get to You, which can be found here:

http://www.recordingproject.com/media/select.php?mediaid=505

It's in E, and the verses are just an E shape moved from 1st position up to the 5th fret, then 4th fret, then 3rd fret. Back to 1st, then 5th, then 4th, then 7th. The chorus is just an E to D thing.

A fun cover might be The Weight, by The Band, or Money (That's What I Want) by The Beatles.

Of course, there's thousands of other classics, but those just popped to mind. What others could work in a mega jam setting?

Romeo and Juliet (dire straits) (G D C etc.)

Any Tragically Hip stuff...

Hmmn...What I Say from Ray Charles...

Good idea Skulp...

I say we just hash it out like last time... I dig open jams, and just learning songs as I go. If you really wanna play something... just bring a few chord charts for the others.

I doubt I'll sing again this year. Unless I work up some of my own tunes. I can't jam worth a damn. But see there, I can rhyme.

How about "Yo Ho Ho For The Whore" By Dispelled Myths? I'd love to play bass on that if DM feels he could do it. All the vocalists could join in for the chorus. That would sound awesome!
kgirl. If you have (chord) charts (or just the key in some cases), you've got some great stuff! I'd be proud to play bass (fretless) on any of your songs.
Just plain ol' jamming is fine, also, of course.

Heh, sounds like a fun tune. I always thought The Blarney Stone by Ween would be a great singalong. I'd be all for a DM jam!

Uh, joro . . . I wasn't sure if you were coming to Ducfest (having trouble keeping track of everybody's user names). If you're going to be there, the bass part on Yo Ho Ho is yours, so I'd feel just as happy to just sing in the chorus for such an awesome song. I'd probably crap it up with overplaying . . . LOL!
We still don't know if dispelled myths wants to do the song. Hope he does!
I've been wondering if there will be more bass players at Ducfest. I've been stuck before, playing all the sets and didn't get to mingle/party. That can get old, ya' know!
Regards,
David T

Hey...I'd be both thrilled and honoured (and nervous as shit) if people wanted to try that one...I think I did it originally in C, F and G...but I may have had the keyboard transcribing it up or down...

I'll print some lyric/chord sheets to bring just in case people do want to try.

Didnt we have a campfire jam of that tune last year?

Either way, i am down for drums, bass, or terrible off key backup vox.

Thanks d_m and joro! I'll play along with the download so I can get some of joro's nuances. I just think that song will be suited to the situation, not to mention it's just a well crafted song. Maybe we should all do some heavy shots before attempting it just to numb the senses a bit.
I'm go for just about any classic rock/soul/funk and some jazz styles. Just tell me the key. We'll just have fun makin' music, alright?!

Sounds good...I'll have to learn how to play it again...Smile

2lim...yeah, it was kinda a memorial tune for daf, and I came up with the chorus based on the lyric from that tune. It's not the same song, at all, but the main line is from that memory...

Well, I could try. I'll transcribe the words, so that anybody who wants can take a shot at a verse or two.

I'd like to get a link to Yo Ho Ho for the Whore, never heard of it! Ho for the Hoor was a long time me and daf collab...actually it was our only collab now that I think about it.

I love anything by Ween and can do a pretty mean Dean or Gene impersonation!

This all sounds like a lot of pseudo-jam band cock stroking, therefore I'm all for it!

oh yeah! Lessee here, we know What Deaner was Talkin' About, Baby Bitch, Don't Shit Where You Eat, Voodoo Lady...the list goes on. Blarney Stone would be alot of fun -- sort of an Irish drinking song you could easily make up words to.

I'd still love to try my hand at singing "This Town Ain't Big Enough For the Both of Us", but I doubt it can be learned by enough people in time at this point.

There's always "Low Spark" again, and I'll try not to forget the lyrics this time.

Hey Ratso.... I seem to remember a VF 1 recording of you and I playing a few tunes. I am pretty sure we can hack those out too if ya want?
