Well, I've never had the good fortune to attend one of these events, so I'll just ask. As far as the music goes, is it an entirely impromptu, seat of the pants free-for-all, or does any collaborative preparation come into it? Either way, I'm game.

Typically, it's been mostly seat of the pants free-for-all, but I recall a couple of tunes discussed beforehand. Last year Daf had a couple of premeditated tunes we ended up doing.

I've got a few I'd like to try out, but have always wondered this too...basically the free-for-all is the approach although I suck too much to really be able to just jump in unless I've got a sense of the chord progressions...

Would it be worth starting a thread, either here or in Collabs, of a running list of covers, as well as links to original tunes we might like to jam on? Or does that go against the spirit of things?

I think that's a good idea. There's gonna be free-for-all no matter what, but I think it'd be great to have some things in mind (and maybe even practiced a bit) beforehand.

I'd start another thread with it... that way it won't get lost in this one if it goes to 6 pages Smile

Yeah I know.... but the two guys I am bringin, are BOTH playing shows on friday.... so there is now point in coming till after they are done. Although I may do something crazy, like come on my own on thursday, then go back and get the guys, watch them play, and come back friday late.

Okay, my boyfriend's mom is really sick, and if things keep getting worse, we may not be able to make it. I will not drive the trip alone...I would be too anxious. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to make it, so everyone pray or do whatever it is you do if you don't pray,

Skulpter I'd say it's a more seat of the pants free for all goes generally playing covers. Very little instrumental jamming. But, I never participate, lol, so can't really say for sure.
