Hello everyone,
I've heard about many singing exercises, but the question is simply: How long should I warm-up? How long should I sing an vowels, scales before singing a song? Is there any difference between vocal exercises and warming-up? thankx a lot...

idk if this would apply to vocals but i thought i'd add my 2 cents....i play guitar and whenever i first pick it up i start with the simpler things that i know and work up to the more difficult things i know....when i can nail the tougher stuff i know i'm ready to go Smile....just a thought....take it as you wish Smile

One of the best warms ups I've found is simply walking a couple miles! (running isn't so good as the plosiveness of breathing messes up the cords for a little bit).

After that, I'd recommend about 30 minutes or so of a warmup....then take about an hour off, and THEN do the recording!! Your voice should be ready to go!

if it's before a performance i try to make a global warm up hours before to test the range and know what (if i need) to skip during the performance, 15 minutes before the stage I make relaxation and also rolling Rs and a bit of logopedic exercises (not really singing loud) but getting ready for it.

I sing 4 hour gigs 5-7 nights a week and for warm-up I do ........ wait for it ................ nothing!

I have zero warm-up procedure whatsoever!

Well, I usually drink a beer!
