Hi,
I have been using a Fostex R8 with a Fostex 812 mixing desk but recently got my hands on a Teac 80-8.
I tested it out thoroughly and found no problems except I noticed when you select RW or FF it sometime does nothing unless you give the reel a nudge in the correct direction. Is this a potential problem?

Which is the correct/best noise reduction unit I should be looking for to use with this machine?

I donít have a manual so does anybody know where I can buy/download a copy?

Any help would be much appreciated.

dbx would be the noise reduction of choice for the 80-8. TASCAM made a matching unit for it originally but it might be hard to find at this point.

If you can find 4 dbx 150X units, they can also be used in place of the TEAC original.

As for manuals, ebay is about your only hope at this point.

About nudging the reels to get them going; that's tough to say? Might just be a tension adjustment but you'd need the manual first to set that up properly.

Cheers! Smile
