Does anyone have problems with this? I recently got the m-audio oxygen for Christmas and go through my laptop with it for sound. The problem is, in most programs I try, there is lag from when I hit the key to when it makes sound if I'm trying to record.

There's only one program that works perfectly but it's a trial called Multitrack Studio Lite. Cakewalk and other programs seem to lag.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's called latency, and can be greatly reduced by using the ASIO drivers for your soundcard. If you don't have an ASIO driver, google ASIO4ALL - it's a freeware ASIO driver that works with just about anything.

I only get lag at 2048. Its usually an audio problem, rarely a midi issue.

I've been using a MIDI keyboard with my computer since 1994 when I had an 8MHz IBM 286... never had latency problems. It is likely that you are using software sounds instead of hardware sounds. If I want to record using a software synth, I record MIDI using a hardware synth module to monitor my playing, then switch the recorded track's output to the VSTi or DXi I want to use for final output.

Do you have a hardware-based sound source for MIDI on your soundcard?
