Yes, please!

I'm currently working my butt off at work (but still have time to post, though :wink), and I've got a new job (working at support for WinMLS, a program to meassure room acoustics). But that means the FAQs are suffering. Slack and Em has offered us to have the FAQs here (as you know, the post is just right there Embarassed), and that would be great!

NP... Do we want to look into another format other than the way you have the FAQ at the moment? ie the HR BBS way or something different, maybe categorise the different sections then go by common questions?

I'm open for anything! The FAQs on "my" page isn't really as organized as they should be, I just threw them together.

I'll PM Slack.. maybe he has some preferences on how we're going to put them togheter.

What do you suggest, Porter?

I was just thinking more like a tree...

Start off with different categories ie, Start here, MIDI, Audio Editing, etc. Then if required we drill again. We then give questions which a 'codes' as to which application(s) the question applies to, ie Sonar, Home Studio, GT Pro, Pro Audio 9 etc. Something like that I'm thinking. Depending on Slack, I know this site supports php, so we might be able to run a standard template a populate a DB maybe.. that way you only have to update one source and don't have to worry about formatting.

BTW, watch my Age change over night!!! 23 today 24 tomorrow Very Happy

Porter and moskus
Yes, that would be great idea Smile I think it's about the time. May be we can split the job. Someone does the data gathering, someother does the page layout stuff, etc...

BPOM
Have you checked the latest mix? Looks like every tracks (parts) had been uploaded to the server... including dachay's latest mix... I can feel it... it's gonna be the main theme of this BBS Laughing

Glad to have you on the team, James. I hoped you would join in! Very Happy

The heaviest job is to write the Answers. Layout and such is pretty much straight forward (and if Porter can arrange php-something, then it's dead easy). Smile

I suggest we start by finding all questions worth answering, and then split them up afterwards.

Well, there was THE THREAD, which is a start.. we might be able to set up a standard way of displaying the answers.. mind you that can probably be set up with css or something. If we use php we should be able to type up the answers in a text document then have just one php file that will display all answers and it will be populated from a text file..

Just thinking.. is Slack watching this thread?

Yes, Slack supports us Smile

Porter, what do you think of "Cakewalk' regular help files" style... people has an options to browse, search by topic, or keyword... what do you think about it? Smile

I know he supports us.. he posted earlier in this thread Very Happy.

Search by topic or keyword.. we would have to check with Slack in regards to a search function, I'm not too sure about that, but I like it.

I've tried that Porter. People just laughed at me. In the end I tried thinking like a lamp-post.

If you want ace proof-reading and general tidying up of grammar on the FAQs, I'll throw my hat into the ring.

Blues, there's always room for you. The more the merrier, you know! Wink

Anyway, James. What exactly did you mean? Are we laying them (the Qs and As) like FAQs or are we making a "Help File 2"?

Have you thought about the consequences? Two giant Hey Moskus threads?

We should make a Hey Jaymz thread. He deserves it.
