Would anyone like to take a shot at coming up with some lyrics for this tune?

It was recorded a couple years ago and the writer has given me "carte blanche" to do as I like with the material (there are 7 more without lyrics....)

All serious inquiries are welcome Smile

Hi , what do u call " serious inquiries " ??????????????

i have "loads of lyrics" but don't know if they would "fit" ????????????
i will have to listen to the tunes .......... but even then my idea of what may fit may not be yours .

u say u have "carte blanche" , does that mean u r looking at publishing the "material" ?????????????

also i DON'T / Can't sing , so do u have a vocalist in mind ???????

p.s. sorry for the questions , but i think these points need clarification. !!!!!

Very Happy Smile Surprised Razz Wink Head Bang Headphones Guitar wink Rock On Vocals I dunno

"inquiries" might have been a poor choice of words (now you know why I don't write lyrics Laughing )......"serious" as in I wouldn't be interested in "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" type stuff....one person's first impression of this tune led them to say they thought it would be good music for a Chevrolet commercial (something I'm still willing to explore actually) but different people relate differently to a song....for example what comes to your mind when you hear the music?.....and go from there.

I read a couple other posts by you and folks musical responses to your lyrics....I guess this would be the "reverse process"....music which inspires the lyrics. Have you ever worked that way?

As far as "publishing" is concerned....technically the tune as it is has already been published. I was just cleaning out my hard drive and archiving tracks when I came across this tune again....I always wondered what kind of lyrics might be inspired by it, sooooooo......I put it here where I know a lot of very talented folks hang out Cool If something clicks with the tune then yeah, we'd be looking at publishing it with lyrics. I don't have any particular vocalist in mind.....maybe someone on this board would be interested in singing on it once there are some lyrics Wink

"HEY MICKEY, YOU'RE SO FINE
YOU'RE SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND"

Oh, but then it changes, lol.

Hey, who played bass on this?

Not at the moment. But it's an eminently usable tune, and I like the way it moves. Right now, the bass is doing melody. But that just makes it easier.

Okay, I worked out the structure. I'm amazed you got away with this. Lyrics are going to have to serve structure, rather than the other way around. I usually work the other way around. Laughing

The reason it works is cuz it's pure joy with the same chords recycled in a couple of different patterns. I gotta ask - were there words with this originally?

The joyfulness is one of the things I always liked about the tune Thumb Up ...as far as I know there were no lyrics....although I'm confident John was inspired by an idea or concept.

The chord structure is straightforward at first:

Part One 4X

Part Two 2X

Part One 4X

Part Two 2X

Part Three 2X

So far, so good. Then it comes to a close this way:

Part One: 2X

Part Two: 3X!

Part One: 2X

It's the 3X that surprises. I'm thinking the reason it works is because Part One and Part Two recycle a lot of the same chords, so you don't notice the discrepancy. Anyway, it's not a discrepancy. It works. Smile

I've got a verse and most of a chorus. The lyrics are a bit unusual maybe. If this works, it's gonna be interesting. Laughing

Okay, here it is. I'm not explaining it. Laughing

It was a lot of fun singing against a rocky backing like this. Now I'm gonna have a wine and play some guitar.

BTW, do you have any vocal sample librairies?

Laughing .....I'm amazed at the subject matter of the lyrics! (for reasons I won't go into here....)

I don't have any "vocal sample librairies" Laughing (do such things exist??) but I can hear your chorus in a much bigger (think thick harmonies) way working quite well...

Thanks for your efforts!!

I'd be interested in having a copy of the lyrics...can you post or PM me?

I'm thinking vocal samples could be used really interestingly for the bridge. Either that or a screaming lead guitar break. Laughing I've been thinking about getting some. (Voice samples, not screaming lead guitar breaks.) I'll let you know, if you're interested.

You're in some trouble but hey
I'll fix up your business okay
Sometimes after a fall
Sometimes you get a call
Show you how to invest
If you want to be the best
Any problem you got
I'll fix it baby I'm hot

But hey yeah hey
Fixing up your business today
Hey yeah hey
I'm good
Hey yeah hey
I know exactly what to say
Cuz hey yeah hey
I would

Speculation and such
Some us just have the touch
Losers sit on the fence
But it's just dollars and sense
Venture capital comes
To those who cock their thumbs
And sometimes you gotta spend
Something you got to get to the end

But hey yeah hey...

(third maverick chorus part)

And hey yeah hey
As for market share and outlay
Hey yeah hey
You should

I like the creativity in your other songs so...yeah, I'd be interested in hearing the vocal samples on the bridge Cool

I like the lyrics even more when I read them.....could be a rap tune too Laughing

I'm hearing a thicker, gutsier, projected vocal though...with harmonies on the chorus stuff.....but I don't know who could do it Sad ....the whole thing would need a re-mix though....(if you'd be up for that, 'cause I think you get better clarity on your mixes)

My mixes are a function of attention to mic placement when I record, and then putting a highpass filter on everything. Honest, that's it, aside from obvious effects. I think the mix you got on this is great. One of the things I noticed after I really got into the tune was how the incredible bass part can't help but grab attention, and how you tend not to notice how good the guitar and drum parts are. They're really good. You guys still playing together?

If you want somebody else to sing it, that's cool with me, cuz I don't think I do thicker and gutsier. Laughing If you can find a Gary Brooker, I'm charmed to be a Keith Reid.

If I get some voice samples any time soon, I'll give your tune a go, cuz I really like it.

Hey raw2nz, do you know how the bass for this one was recorded? DI? Amp? Modeler? Combo?

The bass went through an ART Dual (Tube) MP.

All the guitars are John Novik, who wrote the tune. Bass and drums (digital kit) were session guys he hired.

Thanks again for your interest and contribution to this Thumb Up

We'll see what we can do Wink
