my bet is that it kicks butt for the money. I had the little brother (788), and am still impressed w/ what that thing was...bang for the buck.

It's a nice unit. I got one in the spring of 04.

And a company called MixerMuse.com has just released a program called T2488 that allows you to control the unit from a PC using MIDI remote. I have the trial version and it works.

24 tracks is technically correct, 12 single channels and 6 stereo pairs but I have never had a problem there. In fact I've done two songs in one song file.

Happy tracking.

Haven't bought it yet. I almost bit the bullet and bought the thing, but I decided to sell my Fostex VF 16 and Plextor Burner before I buy it.

my palbtb gots one...he likes it very much, but is still inside the learning curve with it. I use the 788, and if'in it's as good or better then it's a good one.

I got one of these about two months ago to replace my fried Korg 1600.
It's not a bad machine, but I do miss a larger window than the 2488 has. I'm back to squinting now.

It's a step down from the 1600, but a far cry better than the Korg 3200 which I bought and returned days later, before I settled on the 2488.

I can only compare it to the Korg 1600 and 1200.
First thing I noticed was that the dial nob is very touchy. Want to move a few numbers either way, it seems to jump numbers, or menus, and I got to redo it.
There seems to be too many menu avenues while looking for something. I guess I got spoiled with the touch-the-window on the Korg.

It records the same as other machines I used, but with a few minor changes.
My only other gripe is that the window is just too small. Things are just too cramped in it.

That's my take, after usings a machine with a larger window and the touch the window menu changer. That window has a name but I don't recall it. I'm not hacking on the 2488, It's a fine machine. Just like a Ford owner getting into a Volkwagon. It's what you get use to and like the feel.

If anyone has a Korg 1600, I'd sure trade even across the board, my 2488 for your 1600. Smile

I have one. Love it. Actually bought a non factory boxed unit. Not a scratch on it. It actually did come in the factory box by the way.
