I'm gonna have to go with... My own voice.

But at 100% not the 50%-60% I've been operating on lately.

I'd like to have my voice when I was 20 with the technique I have now.

Josh Groban. Outstanding Voice.

Michael Buble would be second best though..

Or you could always go with my dads voice.

It's a trend, for sure. But they don't want that, necessarily. They can't help it, basically. I don't blame them for it, though. Do you?

If I could swap vocal chords with any singer, I suppose I'd go with someone who is gifted with a so-called "beautiful" voice. But it depends upon your definition of "voice". A voice is more than a certain timbre produced by one's vocal chords; it's also a style of presentation. And in terms of presentation, the best singer to ever walk the face of the earth is Mic Jagger. Stylistically he's fucking fabulous. Every singer to come since with any kind of street-smart snarl is really just exhibiting an inferior emulation.

The last couple of weeks, I've been listening to Exile on Main Street a lot. It just gets better with repeated listening. And one of the things that struck me was Jagger's singing style. You know, I've just taken him for granted all these years cuz I sorta grew up with him - the Stones have always been there doing their thing. But while I was playing their CD in the car, I was singing along at places and I found that Jagger is really hard for me to sing along to - not tuneless exactly, but all over the place. But with control. And it amazes me that that's how he wants to sing it. It makes me wonder what's going through his head when he's singing like that, cuz it'd never cross my mind to do it that way. And *that* is what makes music interesting, when you notice someone who's from a different planet who's really good.
