Thumb Up Thumb Up

I'm just a beginner, but this sounds GREAT to me!

Any idea what Jon used for mics and pre's? Or does he trigger?

I need to learn how to make my drum sound at least half that sweet.

No nits here at all. The song is excellent backed by a group of very talented musicians. CG you did a heck of a job mixing this. Vox are excellent and tastefully done. You sound a lot like Bryan White. Kudos to you all. Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up

Ok, there is something weird here. The riff goes duuum duuuum dum dummmm

..well on the third "dum" something sounds like it's clashing chordwise. I am not sure if it's a string on the guitar slightly out of tune or what but it's bugging me.

Nice somg, great job and all that.

Ok, I got it, the bass is playing the wrong note on that spot.

Thanks VT for the compliment.
I use 6 mics..
Shure Beta52 in my kick
Shure SM 58 on my snare
a set of Nady's on my Toms (ONE on the Rack and ONE on the Floor tom)..
and a set of Nady Condensors.. in an X/Y pattern as overheads. One Large diaphram and ONE Pencil Tubular Condensor... Both have cartoid patterns.. Those give the mix all the crispness.. or warmth that you need when mixing.
No Triggers... No V-Drums Just a 5 piece Tama (old set of Swing Stars).. Almost 20 years old.. (when the Swing Stars were the top of the Tama Line)

More info's available to my web site... pic's, mic info ect.. www.jwoo10.com

BUT I can't take credit for this mix.. thats ALL CGibson.. Pat him on the back... he's a friggin genius behind the controls.. (our man behind the curtin).. who also plays an instrument so he KNOWS what shitz supposed to sound like hey?

Hee hee.

Great job guys...I can't listen on actual monitors, but from what I can tell, it sounds great. I love your voice, Tony.

Hey, I don't 'do' wrong notes. LOL Very Happy

Heh, as you can see this was an issue very early in the collab. I eventually played to a non piano version, playing my own interpretation of the chord progression. Hence, the part only works without piano. With the piano added, a different part needs to be played. But I don't have the time for it...

Good ears, Jake.

Ah, I dig.

It's not a horrible note, just a little icky I guess.

Nice tune though.

Nice collab guys. When the bass kicks in, the mix comes together pretty well.

Something strange happens with the beat @ 3:22... kick drum pedal... something... there it is again @ 4:17... not sure I like that... (triplet on the kick pedal? sounds a little off-time to my ears) but oh well.

A few small tracking issues maybe, but nothing worth mentioning.

Cool job all around! Thumb Up

re: bass note... a little dissonance is cool.

John mics His drums. you can read about that cool cat and His gear on jwoo10 web-page

Offer still on table to fix drums to last tune you posted. Again I'll tell you how I did it, so you can do it next time.

I still like how your last tune (Time) came together.

I just turned everything to Ten and poof it just didn't suck.
Dumb Luck

As far as I know, Tony (The song writer) doesn't even know it's done and posted. So for now I'll say thanks to everyone’s kind words.

As far as the bass parts being off.....it wasn't me! I told Trojka not to drink before He starts tracking. But NOOOO, don't listen to me.
Ahhhh crap I spilled my beer.

Just kidding Trojka, I didn't spill my beer. lol
You can play bass on my tunes anytime.

Mix sounds great. Tasty guitars....vocals. Excellent song.

Almost dont even need the drums.....I liked the subduded feeling that was happening before they kicked in. They sound fine (the drums)....it would work either way .....that was just my intial reaction.

Not much to add. Outstanding.

Laid back and cruisy. Very tasteful collab fellers, it all gels together very nicely.

CeeGee, that's very tasty guitar playing there, just perfect for this song.

And it's a lovely song too, Stoctony delivers the vocal with just the right amount of feel and regret.

This one has to be a keeper, it's the law.

Nice---

I can hear the slightly off note--Personally, I like it. It adds a dimension of discord to the piece--extra flavor.

this is really nicely done.

One more. In trojka's defense, He played the bass perfectly. Definetly one of the most talented musicians on this site. He played to the initial "non pno" version. And did it perfectly.

Thannks trojka.
