A piece from the Pops concert last Saturday night.. Might not be home recorded, but I recorded it with a simple stereo pair.

... VERY clear.

What mics and chain did you use? Also - where did you place them?

I can't help but think that doing Tommy this way makes it sound a little marching band-ish -- but you nailed the recording.

The mics were a pair of Audio Technica 2020's. ORTF spacing 8' in the air 6' behind the conductor. They were run in my portable digital recorder. This is as recorded.

Wow the AT 2020's were very effective as a pair for recording this Jeff. You mentioned a your portable digital recorder, what recorder do you use? I am beyond impressed!!! Excellent job Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Tascam DR 40 recorder. Works great, has phantom power.
