I have a cheap keyboard (Casio CTK-48i) with MIDI out but my audio interface (Yamaha Audiogram 3) doesn't have MIDI in. I really want to add some drum tracks and bass lines etc in cubase to augment my vocal and guitar tracks.

What is the cheapest way to achieve this without too much latency?

M-Audio makes a USB by MIDI (I/O) cable works great... don't remember the cost but I don't recall it was very much

Like stainless said, go for one of the MIDI -> USB cables (like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51aFc0LgRjL._AA160_.jpg).

The M-Audio USB Uno goes for about 20 quid over here, which is around 30 Aussie dollars. I've seen generic branded ones for a tiny fraction of that price, but wouldn't generally trust them to work well for long. I've also used an E-MU Xmidi 2x2, which does the same job but looks a little more substantial. That one is about twice as much.

Really? It's that simple? There's no conversion of the signal in any way? It's just a matter of different connectors?
