BR1600 Backup Troubles

I'm trading a friend of mine some mixing time for a cool old '72 Fender Mustang. He's recorded a shit ton of tracks (35 songs 8 to 10 tracks apiece) on his Boss BR1600 Digital Recording Studio. According to the system hard drives, that's like 80 gigs of data.

He's fairly technology illiterate, and I've never used one of these machines. From our efforts last night, it seems there's no easy way to batch export the aiff files. I tried just doing a backup onto my computer, but the Mac freezes while it is "preparing to import" all 422,000 items from the BR1600. Anyway, it's just the 300 audio files I want. I'm off to call Boss product support.

Any suggestions while I'm on hold?

Problem solved. The guy was a total self-righteous, arrogant bastard, but I do have to give them props for picking up the line within thirty seconds.
