Last night I spent about 15 minutes going through my Sytrus patches looking for a sound I wanted for an overdub. So I switched to Absynth. Found it on about the second click. I think there's a possibility that the Native Instruments stuff smokes Image Line stuff. Or maybe the FL Studio stuff just caters to House sounds, and NI stuff is more generic. Dunno. But I'm getting my cash lined up to get the Komplete 7 package. It's got brass, reeds and strings and the demos they post on their site sound pretty convincing to me. Anyway, you'll have to pay a *lot* more to get more convincing that what they do. I mean, how much is a Garritan strings package? I'm afraid to look.

What's the deal with NI and Mac? NI haven't made it for Macs? I don't believe it. Shocked

oh they make it for Macs, but Komplete 7 requires the newer Macs with the intel processor- I have the older PPC

This is becoming increasingly an issue and despite there being nothing wrong with my G5 PPC (it's dual core, still fast, has 5 GB RAM, 750 GB disk space internal and another another 1 TB external... it's still the victim of advanced technology and backwards compatibility has become a thing of the past (or so it seems)

so I can either stay 'stuck in time' until such time as something finally fatally crashes (and there's no longer support for the PPC from Apple nor ProTools) and then upgrade... or bite the bullet and upgrade after tax returns and cruise along until that get's obsoleted... or I lose interest ... whichever comes first
