The time has come for some additional "treatment" and the first thing is a new absorption panel (rigid 50mm fibre with a 4" air gap behind) to suppliment the mobile gobos. I've known for ages what I wanted so for the first time in many years I indulged in my other passion.......painting. The last pic was taken about an hour from completion.

Cool

Looks fantastic, Aus! That's a very tasty stable of beauties you've got there. What do you think of the "new" Hendrix album?

Hey Skulpter,

Thanks for the compliment.........having just looked at your website, it means a lot. As for a "new" Hendrix album, I haven't heard it, guess I'll have to see what I'm missing.

that's an awesome painting of 'the man'.

The new Hendrix album is 'Valleys of Neptune'.
I'm not sure it's out yet ....... coming real soon though.
I have so many Hendrix albums I'm not sure I'll get it. But some of it is the final studio work he did.

Man Aus ..... that's good artwork there. I didn't know you painted like that.
Smile

Yep, it's out -- I got it a couple of days ago from emusic. Sounds pretty freaking good to me. It's just great to hear those guys jamming at their peak. They're so locked-in to each other, their synergy is palpable. There's also a very interesting version of Stone Free, which I'd never heard before. For non-fanatics like me, it's all new, though most the material hasbeen available as bootlegs for years.

yeah, I am a fanatic ..... something like 60 Hendrix albums.
Truthfully, I'm sure I'll get it .... on vinyl of course!
Stone Free was done this last time using congas as a primary addition so they could still have the freedom of a power trio but have it filled in more than usual without hemming in the players.
Sounds interesting for sure.

Thanks for the comments. I'm my own worst critic so getting "approval" from others means a lot.

During the project, two things became apparent........1) Just how many of the various images of Hendrix that are out there, are based on one specific photo, and 2) how much I missed "working" with a paintbrush.

I originally did a smaller version of the Hendrix silhoutte in my teens (over 40 years ago) which amongst other artworks, was torn up by my father during an unusual fit of rage. Most of my 45s were smashed, etc., anyways, I'd kept the fragments of that original and I guess my decision for this work was part of a healing process. My wife reckons I'm giving my late father "the finger" and when my son visited this morning and saw it his response was......"Fuck yeah! Tear that up you ##***.

Anyways guys, thanks for the compliments, they really do mean a lot Wink Thumb Up

It's good as it is, of course. But art works well with repetition in some cases, and the Hendrix picture might be a case in point. What I'm getting at is this: it's almost a shame to have the guitars covering up such a great image. But it's also cool to have the peekaboo Jimi that everybody recognizes as well. So...how about a ditto image somewhere else in the room, completely unobstructed?

As for you dad, I don't see it exactly the same way your son and your wife does. I don't see it as giving your dad the finger so much as you bringing something valuable out of yourself again and asserting its right to exist. It's life, not revenge. Being yourself isn't getting even with anyone. It's just being yourself.

Ausrrock- GREAT use of the surface area! an Iconic image without a doubt! Why do parents do that? I had a charcoal Hendrix and Harrison which my step-father one day took down and threw away because he thought it a bad influence on my younger (half) brother...

Your rendition is much better than mine- I claimed it "an abstract/impressionistic, approach".

The Tele- did you buy it with the 3 pups? ort did you/someone add? I've only seen pics on the Fender website of the Tele "Big Block"

Any chance of close-up or 2?

Dobro,

Wise words Thumb Up

Stainless,

It's a '96 Tele Plus.......lace sensors, additional switching for p/up selection, bound body with the "comfort contour". The pic is from a series of arty guitar photos a singer mate ( http://www.paulmarioday.com/ ) took when doing a photography course.

Cool

I had a Tele plus- same color with a double coil lace in the bridge and a single in the neck- with the mini toggle between the 2 pots... BlindEddie (I think.. haven't seen him around in a while) bought it

Not wise so much as opinionated. For all I know, you got a lot of satisfaction out of winning out over your dad at last. Laughing But an ace picture of Jimi seems more positive than negative. Smile
