should I be putting VST in a specific folder.... many are on my desktop and I suspect that's why ProTools isn't seeing them all (ya think?)

I don't use PT, however you will either need to copy all the VST's to a specific directory, or put them all in on directory on your computer (I've put the different effects / instruments in different folders such as drums / effects) and then point PT to that folder. By default I think most apps look at C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VST\ (or similar on the Mac).

But if you have a secondary drive with samples on it, you could put them on there as well and point PT's to it.

Hope that helps... my rambles.. you know Wink
