I am thinking back on a video that I saw from a guy using a Roland Keyboard to sample and litterally deform this sample from a song in a CD. He reversed it and pitched it, added effects... In the end it did not sound anything like the original.

If you do this... is it ok?
If it was ok then what is the big difference in using the actual sound a "little less morphed"?
