I have a yamaha dx 100 midi keyboard and I am hooking it up to my Yamaha DTX 2.0 drum Module to use the sounds from it instead of the stock sounds in the yamaha keyboard. I am able to get sounds from the drum module and trigger them with my keyboard, the problem is, it's sending a different sound for every key of the keyboard. My question IS:

How do assign one sound that I like in the dtx drum module to play on ALL the keys of the keyboard? Is there some sort of MIDI command that will send one sound that I like to all the keys? I hope I'm making sense here. What I'm wanting to do, is play the piano sounds from my drum module on my keyboard.

Read the manual? Wink

No standard one, MIDI knows nothing of how modules work internally.

My guess is you would have to set up a patch on the drum module that included only the sound you wanted, and have the same sound assigned to every note number. You may have to go through and change the pitch of each key manually.
This is how I did it on my DMPro module anyway Very Happy

A song would sound pretty uneventful with a piano playing the same note over and over. LOL.

well then you need to be more specific in your questions you just said you wanted "one sound" applied to all keys...if you meant a sound bank meaning a library of sounds then i'm sorry for the confusion

Yeah, one sound like a "grand piano", "honky tonk piano", etc.... sorry for the confusion.

I figured it out! I just had to play around a little more and read my manual a more closely as regebro suggested. LOL The keyboard voices in the dtx drum module can be played by an external keyboard through midi channel 5 only.
